Why we need alternative paths
Things are getting weird out there. The hum of once-vibrant ecosystems are quieting. Soil is less nutrient-rich. Cultural rifts are widening. Americans are more dependent on pharmaceuticals than ever. And there’s more toxicity to dodge in our water, air, and food—from PFAS to glyphosate. As an individual, it can be a bit overwhelming to sift through it all.
And while it could be argued that things, on a whole, are better than ever (as author and psychologist Steven Pinker does), there’s still an underlying sensation and knowing: life, as we know it, is delicate. We need alternative solutions to become more resilient and face these modern challenges.
